Versus Vol 1 Illustration Project Ends!
And so Versus volume 1 finally comes to an end as last night was the launch night exhibition, where people came, saw and bought pretty things...
I have to say I had never done anything like this before and Versus started as a small project in my head and I never thought it would be as big or successful as it was, so I'm so pleased with the outcome of the whole project and will definitely return for a Volume 2 in 2011.
The Exhibition
I spent a little bit of Wednesday and most of Thursday setting up the exhibition space upstairs at Start the Bus, ready for the launch Thursday night. I'm pleased with the outcome but had more space than I remembered from previous exhibitions, so even though I was planning to have a space for artists miscellaneous work, we had loads and Iain Sellar in particular sold a couple extra prints.
On the Versus side of the room we had all 13 artists work arranged in order and ending with a layout showing all the actual playing cards and A6 prints. I also made a surprise Versus cake which people complimented on taste.
Most of the artists were at the launch night and we had at least 100 visitors through the door, who mostly bought playing card packs and stayed to mingle. I was quite surprised at the number of people I either recognised or knew and it was great to meet so many people at something I personally put together.
Thanks You
I didn't get a chance to have all the artists and a lot of visitors together to thank everyone involved and stopping by the see the project, but I really want to thank the artists for their work and connections for getting the project out and seen by all.

Packs & Prints
I have now updated the Versus website so you can now buy playing card packs and prints, but be quick! We only have 10 of each artists A6 print set for £10.
The playing card packs are just like a high quality set of playing cards but have funky artwork on the front and branded Versus and contained within a matt laminated box. There are only £8, so head on over buy a set, play some poker and win back that money! :D
Volume 2
That's right! After such an amazing exhibition, turnout and interest in the project, I want to bring Versus back again for next year. I already know I want to get more people involved next time so expect a competition version of the project where the runner ups will also get a chance to present their designs. Send 'Em Out!
My next job is to send out 100 packs to creative organisations to show off the artists work and get them more exposure. This was always to plan of the project and I'm going to be busy over the next week with wrapping and visiting the post office regularly.

If you're about in Bristol Thursday 11th November 2010, be sure to stop by Start the Bus's exhibition space for a FREE exhibition showcasing volume 1 of Versus and our 13 artists. You can grab yourself a pack of cards for £6 and if you're lucky some prints too! We have live drawing events, large prints on display and other projects by our artists. Launch Night at Start the Bus!
That's right, Versus volume 1 is ready to be seen by all! On the 11th November 2010 at Start the Bus's exhibition space in Bristol, come by and see all the artists work. Come early, as we will have full card packs and prints for sale and they could easily sell out.
We have a live drawing event planned and a possible after party venue next door at Mr Wolf's, so should be an awesome night!
The show will be open for 1 week until the following Thursday, but try to come Thursday 11th for the big unveilling!
